The whole picture on one page: what a plan actually covers, what it costs, what happens when a client's volume changes, and who on your team it includes. The short answer is that you are billed per set of books — one organization per client or business — so each one carries the plan its own volume calls for.
How pricing works, in detail
Organization is what MatchLedger calls one set of books — one per client or business, each walled off from the others. That is the multi-organization, multi-tenant setup you'll see throughout the app.
One organization per set of books
Create an organization for each business whose books you reconcile. That is the unit MatchLedger prices — and the unit it isolates. Multi-tenant means exactly this: documents, matches, and history inside one organization are never reachable from another.
Each organization gets its own plan
The caps that decide a tier are monthly transactions, reconciliations, and entries per file — so the right plan follows how much lands in that client's books each month. A service practice on one checking account, a retailer settling card batches daily, and a wholesaler running several accounts rarely land on the same tier.
Separate limits, separate billing
Every cap is metered per organization and resets per organization. Billing is separate in the same way: one organization's plan never covers another, and charges on one don't offset another.
Example: one bookkeeper, three clients
Three organizations, three plans, one login. Each is billed on its own — you would pay for one Professional and one Business, and nothing for the Free one. The plans never pool, so you only carry a bigger plan where the volume actually is.
You're not locked into the tier you pick
Volume moves — a client grows, a cleanup engagement ends. Move any organization up or down a tier from your billing settings whenever that happens: the new plan takes effect right away, the difference is prorated, and your renewal date doesn't move. Organizations change plans independently, so moving one client up leaves the rest untouched. Cancel and that organization keeps running to the end of the period you've already paid for.
Your team doesn't change the price
You pay for the organization, never per seat. Each organization has exactly one owner — they hold billing, the team, and settings — and everyone you invite joins as a member who can do all the reconciliation work. The plan sets how many people can be in that organization at once: 1 on Free, 3 on Starter, 10 on Professional, 25 on Business, and no cap on Business Plus. Ownership can be handed to another member at any time.
- • Each organization must be a single business or legal entity — two clients' books can't share one organization. See Terms.
- • Your first organization includes a 30-day Professional trial, one per person. Organizations you add later start on Free — and an account holds one free organization at a time, so adding another means upgrading the one you have.
- • Seats are counted per organization: a person who works in three of your organizations takes a seat in each.
